It was that time again to add something a bit new to the menu. In terms of desserts this time. Strawberries were always a popular fruit that usually complimented a big majority of desserts. Though the Pecha berry dish he made also looked good, yet he wasn’t completely satisfied. The perfectionist in him wanted it to be completely p e r f e c t.
Taste as well as presentation was everything.
‘Maybe I should toss it and start over.’
The simple task of fetching a dessert from downstairs had tired her out so much that the most she could bring herself to say as she arrived was the word “Present.”
The dish was a far cry from the fanciful pastries they served downstairs. Her goal had been to create a chocolate ball with the word cress written on the front but halfway through she had tired of the task and settled for a empty half circle. In fact she was too bored to even write his name as planned and instead opted to procrastinate until she was in front of him to use the melted white chocolate.
Unfortunately she’d never get the chance to. Panpour had the misfortune of scurrying past her feet causing her to fall to the floor with a thud. Her ‘masterpiece went flying, landing on top of Cress’ dessert, covering it like a lid, followed by the chocolate sauce which splashed on top of it.
In moments the entire thing melted away, revealing the pastry dramatically and coating it in a fresh layer of sweetness.
Koyuki gawked at the sudden disappearance of her hard work before looking to Cress with watery eyes. “Gone….ruin dish….sorry,” she said as she went to give him a hug, half in mourning of her presents untimely departure and half as an apology for ruining Cress’ own hard work in the process
I never post on here but fun fact. The reason why she talks the way she does is because she HATES wasting energy. So she cuts every single word out of the sentence she possibly could while still getting her ideas across.
Not only that but she talks REAALLY slow and every word is drawn out. Just cause even saying a handful of words is such a chore to her. Like shes procrasting talking
Koyuki was stupid in many ways, and an airhead in every way. Still there were things that wouldn’t escape her notice. One of those things was Cress.
More specifically how he was hiding something from her. She always knew it, though she pretended not to. If Cress didn’t want her to know, then she wouldn’t know.
Still there were other days when she could see it weighing him down. When it seemed the burden of putting on a facade was paining him. How she wished she could lift those burdens for him. Why wouldn’t he let her in?
On days like that, she almost wished she could force the answer out of him. Pin him down and tell him she wouldn’t let him go until he answered.
Of course she saw the danger in those thoughts. That was something her mother would do. When she realized that, any urge she had to demand an answer faded. She’d wait this out until the day came where he felt comfortable enough to divulge this secret. If he ever did
Koyuki closed her eyes. This place was much different than the city she had lived in before.
That’s right, long before she came to live in a forest, she had lived in a city. It was much bigger than this one, the buildings towered upwards for what felt like miles. In Striaton, the nights were calm and relaxing, back there the night was crowded and loud, filled with flashy lights and even flashier people. She resided above it all on the top floor of a lavish prison.
The house empty. It was decked in expensive furniture, gorgeous clothing and all kinds of gaudy decoration, but it was empty.
Koyuki opened her eyes and turned to the cafe where Cress was currently cleaning up after their last customer. She supposed she should help him, huh. Walking inside she quickly got to picking up the cutlery.
This home was much fuller compared to that place. That’s why she loved it.
He made it fuller too.
Cress didn’t yell at her. He never made her feel bad or stupid. He smiled at her kindly and never made her do anything she didn’t want to. Best of all, he always took care of all her wounds. Kindly and patiently, no matter how many she had, he’d heal every single one of them without fail. Even the one’s he couldn’t see.
That’s why she loved him.
Her hand curled around the knife in her hand.
That’s why she’d do whatever it took to protect him.
He wouldn’t his tease was an empty one. There was a light laugh at the dismiss that he would do anything though in her mind it was all too innocent, but she was correct either way.
‘Ha~ You’re right–I won’t.’
‘Cress wouldn’t do bad.’
Oh, she had such a high opinion of him. The reality of it was he was a terrible person that had done terrible things. It could be forgiven, right? He didn’t think so, as he was more than certain that he would fall back on old habits if he met a certain person to remove his mask. Cress did play his part just as well as his siblings.
‘…no. I wouldn’t hurt you.’
He didn’t have much faith in those words. He probably would, but all unintentional.
…
When did he start getting so sentimental with others? Or maybe it was just a deep, hidden G U I L T.
What a dirty little liar you are.
What an odd girl she was. She could be so dense sometimes but…others.
“Cress…?” Other times she could be so observant. She had noticed time to time Cress would make an expression she couldn’t parse.
Something would upset him but he’d always wave it off as nothing when pressed. She always tried to take it as that. It was just her imagination. She was just wrong and Cress was right just like he usually was, but she never could quite shake this nagging feeling in her chest.
“Don’t be sad…” She pressed a hand to his cheek. “’ll always be here…waiting for you,”
Because no matter how many times he left, she’d always wait for him. Surely that’s what had made him sad, right?
He can only assume it was playful. It was Koyuki as she only had two or three speeds in expressions. It coaxed a smile at him either way.
‘Oh noooo, what a cruel fate to be eaten. This could all be so sudden to be made into a snack.
That is…unless I eat you first.’
Koyuki shook her head in response. “You won’t” she said plainly.
Not too long ago, the idea of Koyuki joking playfully, even in such an odd manner, would be unthought of. Without even realizing it, the time she had spent with the triplet was slowly changing her for the better.
“If can’t eat this…,” she says referring to the plastic decoration Cress had just removed from her mouth. “Maybe ’ll eat you,” she holds up her hands in pretend claws and ‘rawr’s as if to scare him. The action would’ve seemed playful if it weren’t for the fact that her expression never changed from neutral and her tone still monotone
